Things I've Learned since I Became a Doctor
Today is the laziest saturday which I almost spend with lie down in bed cause I'm not feeling well even though it should be my workout schedule today. This noon i was going to new cafe in town looking some comfort food, and I dont think much to wear but just this hype "too broke for supreme" t-shirt paired with this boyfriend jeans.
Let's start this conversation. I didn't realize how time flies, it almost a year a go I officially became a doctor. Days and weeks just passed then it changed in to another year, as I finally do my practice in a hospital faced so many people with different character, try to understand and cure them. Then I remember of one of my lecture said "you will learn to be a doctor when you already work in it", I still remember that cause it was trully happened in me. In this past one year I learn many things and of course not only medical things.
For me, the point of being a doctor is how you can catch their feeling, understand what they want, solve their emotional problems, then prescription is the final step of their problem solution.
I share my thought here. A year summary since I be a doctor......
1. Doctor is not God
Common people may think doctor "HAS TO CURE" , "CANNOT BE FAILED" , "HAVE TO FINISHED MY PROBLEM" , "THE DOCTOR IS NOT NICE, HE/SHE STILL SO YOUNG, THEY CAN'T HEAL US". Well let me explain about this, no doctor is stupid and no doctor is failed. Close your eyes and think, whatever happened in you is already PLOTTED as your path, even in a hand of a strangers if your life can be saved it will be safe.
Remember that no doctor is going to kill their patient, mistakes is our part from learning and sometimes we have to give thanks to our patient cause they might be taught us a lot. Where are the experienced doctor get their expertness? Of course from the patient and by doing mistakes, doctor is only a human.
I hope people out there understand that a doctor is not a God, no doctor wants you suffered and dying. Of course we will be always tried our best as we already sworn in the name of God, do not blame us just because we failed, sometimes we already do our best but God has another plan for your life.
2. Life and Death are in The Hands of God
You know, there were moments where drugs cannot healed your problem anymore. Example you already tried 3 kind of fever medicine but it still can heal your fever, you give a high dosage of pain medicine but it still cant heal you, a lot of fluids to save your dehydration but it still can't solve your problem, in the end they are still gone. For that reason I concluded that life and death in the hands of God, there are moments where doctor cant do anything cause your body isn't anymore responds in to a certain drugs where the normal people is usually healed by it.
3. Your Sickness Sometimes isn't Really Your Health Problem
A person needs to be healthy not only from their body but also from their mental and physical. Some problem will stuck in your body cause you're not physically healthy. Example there's a woman that always come every month with the gastric pain, a lot of prescription is already given but still cant heal her, then one time I asked her about her problem and she finally confess that she had a stress for a long time, and as the stress is gone, her gastric pain is healed slowly. Your body will achieve what your mind believes, what happened in you sometimes isn't really your health problem. Someone can be said healthy isn't only from their physical but also from mentality.
4. Antibiotics is NOT a Problem Solver
There are so many many people have a big misunderstood in their life about antibiotics. For you know, not all antibiotics could heal your sickness. There are a lot of terms and conditions in using antibiotics especially for kids. There are a lot of resistant problem in using antibiotics, a smart doctor is wont give you antibiotics so often. There are a lot of literature explained about antibiotic use.
5. Being a Doctor Means Ready to Have a Long Life Study
Wanting it is not as easy as it is. We might have a massive desire to be a doctor cause we were a 17 yo teen who never see how is the inside medical collage look like! hahaha. Then after many years our head feels going to explode cause so many things has to be remembered and tested. Then after working we're less studying but has to faced a night shift, which is our biggest enemy now.
So... whats next? Life is never going to easier before you become and Sp doctor, but right after you become an Sp doctor you will be having a big responsibility in it. The point is....... we need to always studying to keep our way straight, prevent us from mistakes, and find out new medication for a better improvement of cure.
6. Being a Doctor Makes Me a More Grateful Person
I might be envy with other girl which bought birkin / chanel every month, but just because you still can't afford for a birkin, doesnt mean your life is less meaningful. I look down and see people over there, there's a lot of people over there who doesn't have much fund for cure their illness, no fund for surgery, and many things. I'm so sad looking at them and realized how wonderful already my life is. Do not always look up, look down and see how many less fortunate people are, then it will be make us to be a grateful person. Sometimes we have to thanked God for a day cause He give us health and strong body to surviving this life.
